So, I accessed my YS email account for the first time today since the site closed. I also actually remembered my password for the site itself and logged in. Not much was up. Only had one non-spam email.

Unfortunate Last Name

cost-effective OLED manufacturing," said Yoshinari Yaoi, corporate senior executive officer and president, FPD Equipment Company, Dainippon Screen.

From this article.

It is an actual Japanese last name. I see it pop up from time to time in my Google alerts. There is also journalist who goes by 'Y. Aoi' who winds up in my alerts as well.

Kyou Kara Maoh OAV

So, that new file I grabbed does appear to be the first of the KKM OAVs. Kinda, it has that little graphic that usually means the show going to and from commercial. But, I've seen all of the TV show, so, what else could it be?

Anyway, outside of slightly better drawing and animation, it's more of the same. Other new plotline. Can the show please get back to being fluffy, shounen-ai flavoured crack?

Also, can they stop treating Wolfram just like some sort of go-to joke? One of my favorite characters ever has gone from interesting and dynamic to ... Urkel. All he does is barf and get angry at things. And Yuri doesn't even treat him like a friend. *sigh*

I actually finished a review!

Why does it feel like it's been forever since I actually finished a yaoi review? Well, partially it's because it has been a while. YS hasn't lacked for content recently, but it is time to start slogging through my backlog of reviews to do.

Yeek, I've got 14 books in my 'to-do' pile?

Anime News Network is being wierd ...

Not only are they covering BL news, like it's an actual part of anime and manga, but they are citing their sources? I thought they had magical fairies who pooped out news for them, who knew they got information from anyplace as mundane as a newspaper, blog or website? I am still in shock. What if they are humans like us, and not some magical information gods?

When I used to go to their website regularly, there would be times when every single one of their frontpage news stories lacked a source. I wonder if they have a new news editor. Maybe someone with some vague idea of media ethics?

Though, I remain convinced they only covered the BL Twist news because they wanted a BL news story that wasn't good news. They wanted something besides 'OMG Meteoric Growth Continues' for the people on their forums to sink their teeth into.

The News Keeps Coming

Post-Con we are still having lots of news to report, not all of it is good, though.

Am Back

Actually, I've been back for a couple of days.
I am still a bit tired, though. I haven't had much chance to catch up on sleep with school and whatnot.

It's nice that Anime News Network actually posted about the licenses from Yaoi-Con and credited us, but everywhere else is crediting ANN for all those hours of work we did. We wrote 16 articles, still have an article pending and were interviewed ourselves. Well, I guess I should be happy that ANN bothered to credit us at all, they are really, really</a> bad about crediting sources. I am glad we got a chance to interview Hinako Takanaga-sensei.

Though, I am surprised no one is commenting on another publisher entering the yaoi manga market. I guess everyone is too overwhelmed by the avalanche of licenses.

Yaoi Suki works again, at least for me

I must have an awesome DNS server. Literally minutes after Jen sent in the request to have Yaoisuki.net point to the new IP address I was posting on the forums. By Wednesday we should be fully up and running ... and posting.

I need to be a ton of reviews to try to balance out how much work Jen had to do.

Yay, we got our press passes for Yaoi Con! Last year was alot of fun. Though, this year money will be tight so I wont be able to buy the massive amounts of stuff I did last year. Unless I get off my buy and eBay some stuff, I might only have my registration refund and spending cash.

I am assuming that this is a just a well done joke.

Meh, this weekend I need to do a long overdue YS news roundup. I've just been so busy lately.

I am done with book 7! I fear no spoilers now.

I do, however, fear what staying up this late has done to my sleep schedule.

I am looking through Japan's tourism board's forums and found this post. I almost died laughing.

Weirdness

Reading
Now that I've got the spam under control over at YaoiWiki most of the 'recent changes' are actually people editing it. That is much better than getting hundreds of links to buy medications and whatnot. The one that pissed me off was the spambot deleting entries and replacing them with "Hi, I can tell you've put alot of work into this site" followed by spam links.

I want to strangle the new TokyoPop website. Not that the old one wasn't annoying, but I can't figure out how to update the YS blog there.

I am probably missing something obvious. Oh, well. I will worry about it later.

A couple of forums are talking abut Media Blasters having licensed a giant pile of yaoi at AX, but I can find no source anywhere. None of the major news sites even *have* a mention of a Media Blaster panel. But, then again, none of them are listing 801 or June news.

Gah, cannot post without source. Need source. Hrm... maybe emailing Media Blasters would be good.

Boysenberry doesn't even have their website up yet and they are already no longer the newest yaoi publisher on the block. I am amused.

*sigh* *headdesk*

I should be down at Anime Expo right now covering this stuff myself. But, I am home due to have been extremely sick. I actually wound up being at the hospital a bit Wednesday night. They held me just long enough to be sure I was responding to medication. Right now I feel somewhat ok, but how sick I feel sort of comes and goes in waves. So, I might be bad again at any moment.

Sorry about that

I posted a news post here instead of on the YS comm. Oops :) It could have been worse. I always worry that I will accidentally post to Yaoi_daily instead of Yaoisuki. That would be a really bad mistake.
